Ann Hinson Flowers holds a Specialist in Administration degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL, along with a Master’s degree from Valdosta State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She is also certified as a Media Library Specialist through the University of Georgia Extension. Ms. Flowers’ commitment to education is exemplified by her role as a retired principal and educator at the Grady County Board of Education, where she served as the first African American principal at Washington Middle School.

In addition to her educational achievements, Ms. Flowers has been a prominent figure in the local media, serving as an announcer for the South Georgia North Florida Community News Radio Program on WSTT 730 AM. Every Saturday afternoon, she brings the community together by sharing news and events, further solidifying her role as a trusted voice in the region.

Throughout her career, Ann Hinson Flowers has been honored with numerous awards and recognition's, including being named Woman of the Year in 1970 by Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and receiving the Teacher of the Year award as a classroom teacher. Her leadership and commitment to justice and peace were recognized with the Martin Luther King Drum Major for Justice and Peace Award. She received a certificate of special congressional recognition of outstanding achievement service and public distinction from Ga. Congressman Sanford Bishop, Jr.

Ms. Flowers has also been deeply involved in various community organizations, serving on the board of Georgia Pines Mental Health of South Georgia, as Past President of the Grady County United Way, and as Past President of the Grady County Retired Teachers Association. Her dedication to public service is further demonstrated by her volunteer work at The Grady County General Hospital and Easter Seals Grady County, as well as her lifetime membership in the Georgia Middle School Principal Association and her active participation in the D. Edward Chapter #36 Eastern Star.

As a member of the Georgia Association of Educators and the Cairo Grady County Ministers Wives, Ms. Flowers continues to inspire others through her commitment to education, community service, and leadership. Her contributions have left an indelible mark on Grady County and beyond. Ms. Flowers was a former president of Cairo Morning Star Kiwanis. 

Outside of her professional achievements, Ms. Flowers enjoys spending quality time with her family, including her two sons, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
